Super Six Day 2

Morning Star – Pita Bar Phuketeers 1 – 1

Second round of the Super Six League saw a few thrilling encounters: The first game saw an energetic Pita Bar Phuketeers neutralize the otherwise experienced Morning Star team. After a goalless first half, the Phuketeers took the lead with an own goal. Morning Star pushed for an equalizer, and were rewarded 10 minutes before the end with a goal reflected into the nets by Karl Ward, after a shot from Ratko Privatno.

Phuket Serenity Villas – Ristorante Rugantino 5 – 6

Second game was probably the most exciting encounter of the day – The young talents of Phuket Serenity Villas were up against the experience of Alberto Mancuso’s Rugantino. A smashing start for PSV saw them take the lead with a powerful shot from Sascha Wondruschka, and they eventually increased the lead to 5-2. Rugantinos star-studded team had no intentions of giving up, and relentless pressure in the last 10 minutes took them first to 5-5, and eventually a 6-5 win in the dying minutes of the game!

Babynoname – The Lounge 3 – 9

Third game of the day saw Babynoname up against The Lounge, which started as an even affair. However, The Lounge soon took control and went ahead with goals by Kyrre Amundsen, Hand Egil “Æ hadde løst” Hjortdahl and Kyle “The Bullet” Parsons. Babynoname applied some pressure and picked a few goals back, but never got back into the game which ended 9-3 to The Lounge.

Shakers FC – Eden FC 7 – 0

Last game of the day saw League table leaders Shakers FC vs Eden FC – Although Eden made were intent on making it difficult for Shakers, it was not enough to prevent Shakers from winning the game 7-0 with a notable hattrick by the talented Axel Jehangir Stevens. Two teams now share the top spot in the PSSL with 6 points each: Shakers FC and Rugantino. Who can knock them off their perch?

Bangkok Utd 2 FC Phuket 1

FC Phuket dropped to second in division one after suffering their first defeat of the the 2011 season.

The game was tied at half time but the Southern Sea Kirin conceded twice in the second half – one of which was an own goal by Abdul Coulibaly – and scored one through Thawin Butrasombat.

Bangkok Utd leap frog the lads into top spot and we could find ourselves between 4th and 6th after today’s fixtures.

Next up is a home game v Songkhla on Wednesday, April 6. Kick off 6pm as per.

Top of the League

Goals either side of half time from midfielder Kornprom Jaroonpong and Ivorian striker Kone Adama were enough to help F.C. Phuket a comfortable home win against bottom of the league RBAC Mittraphap on a rain soaked Sunday night at Surakul Stadium.

Kornprom, making his first competitive start for the club, gave the home side the lead after 28 minutes when his speculative cross dropped over the head of goalkeeper Padungkiat Pongraipan and inside the far post. Adama doubled the lead with just 15 minutes remaining, slotting the ball under the advancing Padungkiat after a mistake at the back allowed him to run in on goal.

The visitors finished the game with just 10 men following a second yellow card for dangerous play and F.C. Phuket closed out the match to move top of the league, level on points with BBCU F.C. but with a better goal difference than the Bangkok-based club.

FC Phuket News 2011-01-23 14:15:00

I’m not going to be updatung this blog anymore because I am no longer based in Phuket.

I am following Thai football closely and am still in contact with lots of people connected to FC Phuket and if I get any news I will probably publish it on twitter:

FC Phuket announce new signings

With the Division One season rapidly approaching a massive overhaul of the FC Phuket squad has already begun. Amongst the new arrivals are two from the Ivory Coast, former Thai Port striker Koné Adama who has been signed from Sisaket and Muangthong United midfielder Coulibaly Abdoul, a defensive midfielder.

Paulo Renato Sizino do Nascimento, a Brazilian striker, also arrives from Hungarian football along with a handful of Thai players.

New FC Phuket manager announced

The new FC Phuket manager will be Surachai Jirasirichote. The defender played in Thailand and Singapore and was capped 55 times by the Thai national team.

FC Phuket vs Muangthong Utd

FC Phuket are playing a friendly with Muangthong United on January 26th, kick off 6pm. Both sides have been extremely busy in the transfer market and it will be a chance to see several new signings in action.

Astroturf coming to Headstart School!

Good news, as we will soon have a synthetic grass pitch ready for action at the Headstart International School. The location of this pitch will be very convenient for everyone, as it is close to the Central Festival Intersection. The pitch will be approximately 45×29 meters (actual grass area), and should be good for 6-a-side mini-football. The field should be ready for action already by the end of February 2011!
